Final Presentation

My ambition was to investigate other resources than fossil fuels, to see what possibilities Jæren had for a production of its own energy on site.

On going work

I am now working on the envisioned open algae farming, think I have got most of the stuff for my algae farm. I could not upload my pdf, so I sent it to Alice and Knut. Good luck every one :)

Nearly landed

The eyes are on the farmers these days and pressure boosted regarding climate discussion. Hå municipality has put their ambition high for their agricultural industry; feeding Norway, new energy solutions and improve industries, with the slogan „Handle lokalt thenke globalt“ in forefront.

The ambition with this project is to explore Jærens possibilities of renewable energy production. With research, and test site in Hå municipality the intention is to look deeper of how local production of energy could lead to new energy patterns in Jæren.

Now the research site is nearly landed - And just continious work untill the final hand inn - GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

The Energetic Belt of Jæren

My idea is to make Jærmuseet the centre of a non-fossil energy belt. Whit this presentation I am trying to explain what I mean by that and form my next steps.

Ps. Had again problems uploading the pdf - sent it by e-mail to Knut and Alice

Informative Project

I found very informative, made by Alastair Parvin, about algae and methane farming around M1 in UK. His use of facts and graphics are very convincing - will be my informer :)

Work in process

Here are my first thoughts after encircling the field. When looking at what I had in my hands I realised what provoke my interest - the energy. There are so many possibilities for the future but what pole are we taking - Globally, nationally, locally? What affect does it have on the Landscape?

Uncertainty

Uncertainty’s where my topic, awaking more questions than answers and just a brief landing in Jæren.

For whom?

When I watched the movie Draumalandið or Dreamland, propagandic movie against heavy industry in Iceland, I started to think of the windmill park that is supposed to build in Jæren. It supplies green energy but for whom? What does it do for the local community? It does not supply them with jobs when/if the oil is gone. It has grate affects on the landscape but is it necessary to make it now, is it something that we can keep for the future to use or make a chose of using?

Vörður - leading the way

In my B.S. project in Iceland, I was working with the entrances of Vatnajökull national park, who covers around 13 % of the island, including different landscapes, texture and structures. I got very inspired after reading a poem after Grímur Thomsen which tells about how vörður / varde / land guards.... pile of stones that have protected and led the nation through the times. My final solution was to use these guards to lead people into the park. I like this project because I was working with issues that I care about; nature and tourism, and the knowledge it gave me about the land and history.

Jaeren survey

On November 11th-12th we have been in Jaeren for a preliminary survey of the region. We have been following an unreliable italian GPS and this beautiful map. The result: many impressions, and a slide show, that we invite you to see, here.
