How and of whom should the land be used?

The city of Stavanger, Sandnes and the towns along the railway are still growing. Place is needed.
But one of the most important economical sektors of Jæren - the agriculture - needs a lot of land as well. The conflict is preassigned.
So what to do? Who will get the land? Are there other possibilities? Which ones? And what problems follows out of this?

Pattern of agriculture

Is nature imbedded into culture/agriculture or culture into nature?
The stony fields are one way of a communication platform between nature and culture.
Because the stones destroy the agriculture land and go stone by stone back into nature.

Andy Goldsworthy - Land Art

When I saw the post of Emilie, I remembered an other Land Artist: Andy Goldsworthy.
He works mostly in his home country Scottland. This special work - stony walls are curling snakelike through the scottish landscape - could also be in Jæren. A way of recycling all the stones.

Havørn på Jæren

I'm not sure if someone is interested in this video. Because I understand only the half of it, no if I'm honest: less than the half. But perhaps...............
Nevertheless nice pictures of a snowy landscape.

Curiosities

There are strange things in this area: tiny little ports are at the seashore of Jæren, a lot of roads just ending without reaching a goal. There is no proper connection between the landside and the seaside.
Very special are the farmhouses - cross shaped.

Jaeren survey

On November 11th-12th we have been in Jaeren for a preliminary survey of the region. We have been following an unreliable italian GPS and this beautiful map. The result: many impressions, and a slide show, that we invite you to see, here.
