Portfolio - Projects/Ideas I'm proud with

I'm sorry to post my works only now.

#Old project from my architecture studies - Primary school aka "Wisdom mountain".

The school location was in the very urbanized living area, this area didn't have a primary school, and the plot was already given to a public land use acording to general plan of the district.

Most of all I'm proud of the main idea, which reveals in the strategic schemes. The idea was to gather all the children from around and get them to higher level of their education, which means climbing up to reach the wisdom.

#Another project was an urban project. We were dealing with an area (one block) in the city. The task was to analyze, find the problems and get the solutions for them.

The main problem in general was that the city is post-industrial and the cittizens are still used to HOME<-->WORK lifestyle. So they don't get anything in between, thay are not interesting in socializing or culture.

The main problem of the analyzed area that it was separated by a busy street from the city center. So the area has a big potential for development, being close to the center.

The decision was to integrate the area to already existing social-cultural network of the city, that it could be more attractive to people to live.

My idea was to get the parallel between: the river with its tributes which forms a big network and nourishes the whole river basin, and the cultural network in the city. The idea of the river was traced like a social layer to the city. The main social life axis was along the river and then it links to smaller local areas, and it can join new areas when the city grow. That's how the cultural life of the city prospers. It's everywhere...HOME<->culture<->WORK<->culture<->HOME

I will put pdf, of how all the projects look like, as soon as I get to understand the system.:)
I put pdf files of my works: #1(3/3 boards 70x100cm) >pdf
#2(2/8 boards 70x100cm) >pdf

Different landscape

hello, my first post on this blog, and want to recommend the film 'Manufactured landscapes' (2006). It's a film by Edward Burtynsky, a photografer, his webpage.

We tend to imagine landscape always like natural, so this film shows different spectacular views, that we even can't imagine them existing on our planet. Enjoy!

p.s. I have this film, so if anybody wants, I can give.

War or dialog - Maya

Jærens wonderful coastline is something that I wanted to find out more about. Is it affected by climate change, and what is it that lives there by birds and animals? Also how it was strategically used during the 2 World War by the Germans. One can still find items after this time, which today has become a natural part of the landscape.

Dynamic landscape planning and sustainable design

This is my one theme about the dynamic planning and sustainable design. I try to find which is disappearing landscape. Why the lake disappearing and how to protect them. How to balance the relationship between the four factors: sea、lake、residential、agricultural.

Curiosities

There are strange things in this area: tiny little ports are at the seashore of Jæren, a lot of roads just ending without reaching a goal. There is no proper connection between the landside and the seaside.
Very special are the farmhouses - cross shaped.

Inhale the Landscape via Space and Time

I should say being inspired by a serial of paintings is a romantic start. I found Kitty 's works, who is a notable norwegian landscape painter in the 19th century. Comparing the scenes from her paintings with the present landscape from aerophotos is a nice experiment to explore the changes within the four dimensions.Although the method is rather "impressionistic", it informs me a huge amount of possibilities on this productive land.

To be honest, I prefer urban situation than rural ones. I like the diversity of culture and dramatic conflict, also the crazy ideas happened everyday in the metropolis, like dramas on stage, full of emotion. However, Jæren is quite "out of my expectation". I didn't presume upon its richness in structure and different scale. Thought it's flat, but seems all materials and functions collide here while at the same time,in harmony. Once your body is in the Jæren's territory, no matter whether you are on land or in sky, just inhale the landscape, by expriencing the long history and horizontal and vertical hierarchy. Eventually, people should be a part of the land, merged in the horizon...

From the perspective of aesthetics, the landscape in Jæren is elegant enough. I don't see any necessity to overthrow and refurbish it. What I need to do is to make an organic fabric in order to optimize the value of Jæren, providing clues for culture/sport/service industry development (which I suppose will be parrel with energy)in the new era. Wish me good luck:)

Simona-Encircling the field

Here after 1 hour and half of nervous i'm posting the JPG files of my three themes!

Parks, sustainable energy and Dante's poem are linked to Jaeren by the power of the landscape and his given resources.
So, why can't we take benefits from them to revitalize and to give to Jaeren a new and fresh image?

Assignment 1 - Henriette

There are many lines going through Jæren, some are smooth and some are striated. I want to look at these lines in two ways, one is looking at the visual - the shapes and dimensions of the landscape, the other is the spatial - to experience the space, travelling through Jæren on a motorbike, in a train, on a bike, walking and flying.

Defensive Green Along The Shore

The green is the natural guard of the sand. Like a miracle, these little soft lives resist the storm and wave, also protect our great land. It sounds impossible, but they do. That is why I am fascinated by them.
And I try to find out more information about the vegetation in Jaeren, to make whole area analysis. I wonder can the plant become one of the productions in these biggest productive area of Norway. I think using the 'poping' stones to build up new sand dune in different way would be very interesting.

Encicling the field - Betsey

The vast endless sea scape might at first glans seem blue and untouched but is that really the case? In this first encirclement of the field I start revealing some of the actors hidden under the surface, espacially the infrastucture from the oil industry. Many actors are claiming the seascape. At Doggerbank this conflict becomes evident. A long time the conflict has been between the fishers trawling, putting the vulnerable corallreefs at risk. Today a new conflict arises between renewbal energy and the fishers. Because of it's depths it is the perfect location for a windmill parc that can give Uk the energy it needs. Who can claim the sea-scape? How can we structure the seascape?

Uncertainty

Uncertainty’s where my topic, awaking more questions than answers and just a brief landing in Jæren.

Lake and shoreline development

This is one of the themes that I have chosen. In the subject "In harmony with nature", I was thinking about an architectural element which can make use of the natural forces like wind to produce green energy, as well as representing an icon for the area. The element can be a wind catcher, as introduced in my last post.

Kelp trawling continues...

i'm just uploading tree slides and a map that tells about the systems of the kelp (witch is more complex than at first thought), and a bit about why and what I will continue with on the big kelp challenge!

New guest in the studio arrives on Friday

The landscape architect Alf Haukeland, with lots of experience, will be with us on Friday.
He knows the field of Jæren well. Alf will also appear in individual mid-week tutoring later on.
We are teaming up.

Opportunities and collitions - at all tomorrows parties

The diplomas I adviced you to go to is not today, but tomorrow, Thursday, as HenryP has pointed out to me in his blog comment. I have been on two midcrits during the Diploma session and I am personaly very interested in how they has come out. They start the Diploma Reviews tomorrow at 09.00, and Dag Tvilde will lead this day of diplomas.
For our studio the three diplomas to be presented from 09.00 is specially interesting, starting with the home city of two of our Chinese students, I think.
We have invited Geir Nummedal as guest critic tomorrow, and to be a "teacher to come" at our studio, so we have to do some sharp priorities during the day.
BUT - let us ALL meet at Group Room 2 tomorrow at 09.00 and we take ot from there, eventually reorganizing the day a bit.
