Jaerens new foodscape

This is the sum- up of the last work I did before I got to knew that I was allowed to switch studio- course. The rest of this semester I’m going to plan traffic nodes and city spaces in Drammen. I have really learned A LOT from this course that I will bring with me.

I hope you get some new ideas and inspiration after the midcrit.
Good luck with your projects to all of you.

See you later!

Elisabeth.

I have tried to look at the relationship between (my hopefully?!) new players in imbedded information II. Still a bit messy.:)

Second version of imbedded information

This is my second version of “imbedded information”. The expanding urban areas in Jaeren is also a part of the expanding urban areas in the rest of the world. Agricultural land is under pressure. The urban citizens of Jaeren also affect the rest of the world through their ecological footprint caused by food- production. Is it possible to make a alliance between the expanding urban areas and the lack of energy/ecological solutions?

"A completely new life"

Before Christmas I read this interesting article in Aftenposten about the situation on Greenland. I think this was a good introduction to this country of opportunities. The head- title is “A completely new life”. The children of Greenland have to search for new livings in the future because the urbanization still will go on in the country and there is no need for more workers and farmers. The melting of the ice in the arctic and the well- known housing- project in Nuuk is also mentioned.

Geopark Stavanger

A small scale- landscape has appeared in Stavanger...

"The geopark is organised organised around a artificial landscape which relates the topography of the Troll field in a scale 1:500". Surfaces and installations are constructed out of recycled and reshaped elementes from the petroleum sector, taken from abondored fields, offshore bases, equipment supplies and scrap heaps. As a part of the official programe of celebrating the Stavanger region as a European Capital of Culture in 2008, the project has been developted by the Helen&Hard arcitectural practice and the Norwegain Petroleum Museum in cooparation with local youth groups."

Jaeren survey

On November 11th-12th we have been in Jaeren for a preliminary survey of the region. We have been following an unreliable italian GPS and this beautiful map. The result: many impressions, and a slide show, that we invite you to see, here.
