2 possible projects:
- green infrastructures for better life quality in the city
- green infrastructures as a research object in the wet climate
how the public-green infrastructure should be planned and developed in order to keep its function during the seasons? Specially during WET winters, or interchanging seasons... western Norway is one of the wettest regions in Europe – rain being more common than snow in winter...
I wanted to focus on this issue some time ago....just needed a motivation or argumentation for: why am I dealing with public spaces in Jaeren region?....then...all the population growth and oil impact on social welfare research started....i needed some specific fact which could lead me to public-green infrastructure...but maybe the fact of wet climate, and also that the climate is warming in general, could be a good reason for research and some solutions?...

ReplyDeleteWhat is your point of departure, is now a relevant question? I can not find anything on the blog that you have researched. So may be your head is full of new info and wisdom. All the studios in Jæren, texts on the blog, litterature and lectures opens a wide field of Jæren in transition, from one state to the other. Could you please communicate your state of mind on the studio topic in some way or another. If you take of from rising temperature, the rainfalls and storms on an appearing Jæren, a lot of scenarios can be researched and visualized in both dramatic and conceptual ways. But - you have to come up with something to build your own arguments, acteurs, fields of interest etc.
We can not know whats in your head - try to make a story board with knowledge, content and speculations that can lead you somewhere. There has been done a study in Climate Change related to Jæren in the next 50 years, by a research group - I will try to find it. Ps there are a lot of latter day concepts on green, inovative and productive infrastructures in the cities, think of the High Line in NY. But you have to make a move, take a first step to show yourself and us what you have gathered in your knowledge bag, so to speak - and soon!
Hello Luicija -
ReplyDeleteI think looking at public saces in a wet weather / climate change perspective is a good starting point. Link it to the question you asked Stig L. Andersson on thursday. You can use the metaphor of water and the critical task we will face in the future, to deal with unpredictable changes - like heavy rains and floods - as your scenario: can you engage floodplains, city channels, permeable/impermeable surfaces as a new skin to design public spaces in the urban environment? Rememebr there was a group of students in research 1 that discovered a drained lake where Furus in now located. You could event start from there and completely rethink Furus when that same water they drained will inevitably come out again.. We want to see your drawings now! Midcrit in in 10 days.. Good luck!
