Dear Jin -
ReplyDeleteI think this almost impressionistic juxtaposition of art works and aerial photographs has created a very fascinating "notational" map of Jaeren! Well done. Have you found the text from James Corner I left on your desk? (for the others ref. James Corner, “Representation and landscape: drawing and making in the landscape medium” Word & Image n. 8, July-Sept. 1992) I especially like your choice of screenshots, and also their scale.. What is this canvas telling you now? To which direction will it guide you? I think you have to take your discoveries very serious and let this matrix inform your own definition of your field of interest in Jaeren! Have a look at the Corners book Taking measures across the American Landscape, also, it is in our book list. You can now try to establish relations in this very neutral carpet that is your collection of pictures, and see what more you can tell, by associating things, giving them hyerarchies and so on.. Corners graphics can help you on this. Good luck! Alice
Hi Jin
ReplyDeleteThere is an interesting observation of time and creativity here, and the graphical qualities in your presentation of this assembly are exquisite – I posted it on our own (D&U) blog as a teaser for our readers to visit the studio blog. The cut-outs of the aerial photos are intriguingly seducing; you have really found some spots of possible tranquillity, landscapes with graphical qualities recognisable from the satellite-sphere, seen through your eyes - via the eyes of Kelly Kielland and interpreted by (land art) installation artists. I look forward to your next step. Kjerstin
Kelly should be Kitty though ... Gabriel Kielland
