Hei!
Vi skriver en slags scenario plan for Jæren one city. Den er ikke ferdig.(sender den på mail)

MANIFEST

Main points:

‐Landscape: established water structure as infrastructures.

‐Agriculture: extensive farming are linked up to establish water system.
Intensive farming are created as holistic system. Agro parks are located between the water
systems.

‐Urban development happens along the railway structure. Urban centers
are reflecting its surrounding character and its essences.

The railway, water system and the agriculture work as a framework for further
development.

  1. Hei Mats and Trude
Nice - look up my answer on the blog to Kemppe on Seven Micromianifestos etc.
Jæren One city took of from the dynamics of small cultures (the statement in KinoKino, "if I could be king for one day)and the observation of the underated Jæren train/Metro.
This means that your Manifesto can introduce noitions related to changes on all scales, from smaller elements to the larger scale of planning possibilities. All borderlines is now open for new interpretations, the city is anywhere, landscape is anywhere, agriculture is anywhere and everywhere. Your manifesto should include some of these new openings and passages to Jæren One City - speculate and name them. Inherent in this lies the fact that you are searching for a robust and experimental city of a new type, based on the extreme competencies of the region. Look up Kemppes diagram of research and businesses. Dont underestimate the possibility of The New Jæren Hyper Metro. Your drawings can be very smart in time to come, The New Scenes of....

  2. Hey M&T
I know you feel a bit lost right now, trying to link this future mega-city-biotope-utopia-structure with the new scenes. I think your approach to Jæren i so inspiring, so don't give up:)

It would be cool if you could make a storyboard of the new scenes, maybe linked up to time (being inspired by mondays lecture) like OMA and that time-shoppincenter-image. Linking your scenes to the development of landscape in time, and travel distance in time...

  3. Hei -
try to communicate your project like a story. Get away from the map for a while, let's say. Your manifesto points can be chapters : 1/urbanity at 160Km/h in 37 min for example : than you explain the power of the trainline - in diagrams, comparing it to any city in the world that you like, and then you can represent your new Jæren as a barcode of transitional spaces (will try to find a visual reference to what I mean) 2/(n) agricultural/economical landscapes : then you explain how agriculture should function in the future. 3/landscape as infrastructure : new biological corridors and new slow-speed connections 4/a cultural network (if that is part of your project) etc etc ... xx/a cinematic experience : your scenes. Can this help? Maybe your supermap should be mental while we read your project but never shown.. Good luck :-)

  4. Hey Mats and Trude
Your supermap of Jæren One City with The Jæren Metro, and no municipality borders is a clear concept. Your task is to make a smart and simple carthography on the one hand, like you now have tried out. But the most important, and what I think is your concept, is what this opens for of possibilities. As I said to Mats, what do you discover with this supermap as background. Jæren One city is your guideline to this inventions and discoveries. This is your new scenes of Jæren, or as Alice says, chapters in your story of Jæren inventions.
You should find a way to conceptualize and visualize this discoveries of transitional spaces (alices notion) to a new and appearing Jæren Mosaic. Call me if you want to

  5. Dear Mats and Trude
When we did the project Helsinki Tampere Visions (se our blog) it studied the possible transformation between these two cities under the possibility of a new TGV line between the cities. We did draw a new map of this compressed landscape (by time and accesibility),but our main concept was to study and visualize (very abstract, collage like) seven "Thouchstones" along this new line.
This seven drawings was then, in your terminology, new scenes. This scenes only showed some few possibilities. A station in a lake, a preparation for an extension of small community (not the whole image), a field prepared for a possible new community related to farming and so on. All this scenes, or thouchstones, showed only a few transfomation, as possible landscape dynamics related to this new accesability network. We showed what such and idea opened for. In the Ørestad concept (also on our blog) we made a structure plan titled "Some time in the epoche of Ørestaden" where we only showed the new metro, a new strategy for water landscapes and some landscape transformation related to water, connections and landscape. It was a plan in a larger geographical and time scale opening up only some of the readings of a new structure. Intended to open for a dynamic of networks and systems reorganizing the urban growth, where landscape features where the dominant. A very simple plan, or a matrix, charging the total landscape of Amager which Ørestaden was a part of.
In the Mosaic concept (with 70N arkitektur)we aknowledged the idea that a possible supermetro, a loop on both sides of Øresundet) was the new connector. Then we studied what this idea opened for of possible transformations of landscapes, transport forms etc. Here we connected all types of transport in an ultra grid, joining all speeds: Bicycles, trains, metro, lightrailes and so on.
BUT: this concept was only important for us when it gave us possibility to discuss all othe types of scenes or possibilities that it opened for, charging the mosaic concept of the region. So my moral is, as I said in earlier answers to you on this blog. You dont need to do a cartography of the Jæren One City totally transformed in time. The carthography in this scale is also a map, a matrix, of possibilities. To this you then add and give name to your new scenes of Jæren, as what you explore from having Jæren One city and the metro as your "Point of Departure". No one asks for the finite image, we only ask for some explorations of transformed waterscapes, landscapes, habitats etc, eventually seen from the train, based on this new structural concept of Jæren. And remember: The logic of this kind of explorations lies inherent in all your research up to now. That I could see on the wall in front of you, as I have stated more than one time: Good luck and call me if you want to. Please post some more on the blog
