I have found the weak voice of Jæren and followed its footsteps through the landscape to find its meaning. Then I can hear what it is trying to tell me and ask questions.
Dear Maya You are very knowledgeable on aspects of bird watching. Therefore you know all the systems that birds relate to. I proposed that you should follow an appearing Jæren seen through new flights and trecks of bird, seen through the eyes of the bird. A little bit how filmaker Arild Osmundsen and is "Driving in Jæren" made him a mentor for the other filmakers. Beeing the one who found the flightways so to speak. You should also check out a project made in the german organized "Shrinking cities" competition, in Sheffield I think. Here the winners followed the flights and landings of birds in a disappearing city landscape. I refered to Bow-Wovs "Made in Tokyo" drawing up its hybrids of architecture and progams, seen from above in a way. You should check it up. Get some more strong input into your project. You know about birdwatching, but you have to drive this to a totaly new position (you can even watch Hitchkocs film once more). I also refered to the film "Into John Malchovich head" which is also such a new way of seeing the obvious. Charge your search and dramatice it. Study bird biotopes internatioally also - Fly high please. Remember the two young architects who has moved to Vardö, because of their love of watching birds!
Appearing and disappearing landscapes is a master studio at AHO - Oslo School of Architecture and Design, run during the spring term 2010 by Knut Eirik Dahl, Kjerstin Uhre, Alice Labadini and Ellen Braae.
