The Agency of Setting the Brief – Or How We Act as Urban Designers

This text consists of three parts in my humble attempt to address some fundamental questions concerning contemporary urban conditions and how we respond to them as urban designers or planners. In part one I cut out current accounts and go straight to the outlining of what I find the most promising urban paradigm. In part two I shift focus to the question of collecting information or creating knowledge and in the final part I discuss possible operations for encircling the field and setting a brief.
